Principal’s Message

Welcome to South High School

On behalf of the faculty and staff of Pueblo South High School, I am pleased to welcome you to SHS, home of the COLTS!

Pueblo South High School serves students from grades 9-12, and has a student population of 1350 students.  SHS has a long history of excellence in academics, as well as extracurricular activities.

Pueblo South offers a wide array of learning opportunities for students.  In all, Pueblo South offers over 150 class choices, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses designed to challenge students at the highest academic level.  Dual credit options are also available through Colorado State University-Pueblo and Pueblo Community College.   The 2016-2017 school year will mark the inception of the AVID college readiness system at South High School.  AVID is designed to increase the number of students who enroll and persist in four-year colleges and universities.

The 2015-2016 school year welcomed several new Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways at Pueblo South designed to prepare students for the world of work and post secondary education.  In addition to current career pathways in Business and Finance, Marketing, and Construction Technology, programs new to South included Digital Media and a Health Academy.  For the 2016-2017 school year, South High School is expanding its CTE offerings to include a broadcasting and new media career pathway.

Pueblo South is proud of its outstanding extracurricular programs, including competitive athletic teams, and award winning bands and vocal music programs.  Our teams and organizations consistently advance to area, regional, and state competitions.

SHS appreciates the sustained support provided so unselfishly by our parents, community members, local businesses, and the South High School Alumni Foundation.  As a whole, the South High community pledges to continue to work tirelessly to make our academic and extracurricular programs even stronger to ensure our students are college or workforce ready upon graduation.

I am excited about working with your student, and I thank you for trusting us with his or her education.

Sincerely,

Aaron Bravo
